Ironic, as not far from where the head was located, there was a Randall G3 series 100-watt combo (or something along those lines.might have even been the 200-watt 2x12). I spent 30 minutes at the store trying to dial out the buzz from that particular head but no luck. However, about three weeks ago, I played a G3 series head from Randall, combined with a Randall 4x12 and it sounded horrible. I've never played any XXL head or combo that didn't sound consistently insane (if you're a gain freak like me). The distortion on the XXL is just incredibly tight. I've owned all the major James Brown-designed Peavey tube amps with assorted Triple X heads in addition to many 5150's and its subsequent post Eddie version. For thrash, you have two fantastic choices that stand out to me.
